Edward Gal and Glock’s Voice Lead the Way in 2015-2016 Reem Acra FEI World Cup Dressage Opener
Denmark’s Edward Gal and Glock’s Voice, a 13-year-old stallion by De Niro, claimed the first leg of the nine part series of the 2015/2016 Reem Acra FEI World Cup Dressage Western European League with a 78.80 percent after a tense start in Odense, Denmark today.
Gal continued a trend he started in 2014 to take the lead in the competition while riding Glock’s Undercover.
“The atmosphere in the stands got to horse, and he wasn’t as smooth as he can be,” Gal said. “Sometimes he reacts weirdly, but you know sometimes the weird horses are the good ones!. He felt good at the start, but he got edgy as we went along. However it was better than the Grand Prix. It was his first indoor show, so all things considered it was a good result.”
Danish rider Anna Kasprzak and Donnperignon placed second and Agnete Kirk Thinggaard and Jojo AZ were third.
Kasprzak captured Saturday’s’s Grand Prix with a 73.860 percent with Gal close behind with a 73.380 percent. Dutch rider Hans Peter Minderhoud claimed the third place spot on Glock’s Romanov with a 73.320 percent.
The second leg of the World Cup series will take place Oct. 30 in Lyon, France. For more information, go to www.equitalyon.com. The Reem Acra World Cup final will take place in Gothenburg, Sweden in March 2016.
